The responsibilities we carry for you

Five defined functions of an EU Authorized Representative. Each one is a specific obligation under the AI Act that we hold on behalf of non-EU providers of AI systems and general-purpose AI models.

Regulatory liability transfer

All enforcement actions and audits under the AI Act are directed to our entity. Your organisation is not the target of EU regulatory proceedings, and the obligation to answer to authorities sits with us.

We are the legal contact point for European authorities. On-site inspections and document reviews happen at our location. This is not a virtual or forwarding service.

Required AI Act documentation is maintained in the Netherlands with immediate authority access, so that when a request comes the record is complete and produced without delay.

What providers ask

Any provider established outside the European Union that places an AI system or a general-purpose AI model on the European market must appoint an Authorized Representative established in the Union. The appointment must be in place before the product is made available.
No. AI Distribution B.V. is a formal legal entity with a physical presence in the Netherlands. On-site inspections and document reviews take place at our location. We are the accountable party, not an intermediary that passes correspondence along.
No. Appointing us as your Authorized Representative gives you the required European presence and contact point without incorporating, staffing or maintaining your own EU entity.
Your required AI Act documentation is maintained in the Netherlands with immediate access for European authorities. For high-risk systems and GPAI models, we recommend our independent escrow service for segregated custody.
Responsibilities are set out in a written mandate. Enforcement actions and audits are directed to our entity as your Authorized Representative, with clear allocation of the underlying provider obligations that remain with you.
We monitor amendments, delegated acts and authority guidance on an ongoing basis. When a change affects your obligations, we notify you and identify the documentation that requires updating.
